A near capacity crowd was on hand at the RECplex March 20, to take in the Tisdale Figure Skating Club’s annual carnival. This year’s theme was "Solid Gold", and it was aptly entitled as the days performance was indeed solid gold.
Each of the 29 performances that made up the show reflected on the carnival’s theme of top 40s music. In so doing the audience was treated to visits from such rock 'n' roll greats as Elvis Presley, alias Jason Whiting; Elton John, alias Tracy Furber; and the Beatles. alias Jonathan Hamlin, Andrew Mievre, Barry Kelly and Jeff Rogers.
The guest skater at this year’s carnival was Karen Thorson of the Nipawin Figure Skating Club. At the end of the afternoon’s performance, Thorson was presented with a token of appreciation by the Tisdale Club.
An added treat on Sunday was a solo skate by club professional Barb Roberts. She gave an exce-lent exhibition of figure skating skills.
The Tisdale Figure Skating Club presented Roberts and co-coaches Sheila Patterson and Tanis Conron with bouquets of flowers at the conclusion of the carnival in appreciation of all the work they have done this year.
The carnival is an annual affair for the Tisdale Club and the 1988 performance continued a tradition that shows it to be an annual success as well.
