![A four-foot birthday cake, topped by a Canadian flag, was cut when Canada's 111th birthday [in 1978] was just minutes old early Saturday morning. Participating in the ceremony which followed a dazzling fireworks display, were [left to right] Mayor Maurice Taylor, Chamber of Commerce President Bruce Maclennan, Mineral Resources Minister and Kelsey-Tisdale MLA Jack Messer and TUC'S Principal Larry Salamon. The week-long festivities leading to a five-hour program Friday evening at the fairgrounds was sponsored locally by the Chamber of Commerce with financial assistance from the Town of Tisdale and the federal government.
