Throwback: Twisters bring back medals

The Tisdale Twisters returned from the CanAm Invitational in Saskatoon [March 21, 1998] with lots of hardware in hand. Medal and trophy winners included (L-R): Chantell Nygaard, Kristin Lloyd. Janell Lutz, Rebecca Ives and Amanda Biro.

Kirsten Lloyd and Rebecca Ives topped the gymnasts competing in their respective classes to capture an all-around championship during the Invitational Meet in Saskatoon March 21 [1998].

Seven members of the Tisdale Twisters were among the gymnasts competing at the invitational meet. Other clubs attending the meet included the Prince Albert Aerials, Saskatoon Marian, Regina’s Gym Adventure, Regina’s Queen City Kids, Alberta’s St. Albert Dynamics, and the host club.

Twisters gymnasts returned with total of 12 medals and a second place all-around finish in addition to two championship trophies.

Lloyd, competing in the Class I, Pre-Argo division, took gold on beam and floor, won silver on vault and was sixth on bars. She received first place all-around with a score of 28.132.

Ives competed in the Class I, Argo division. She received gold medals for her performances on bars, and floor and won bronze on beam. She received first place all-around with a score of 29.331.

Chantell Nygaard followed Ives with a second place all-around finish in the Class I, Argo division. She received a final score of 29.165 after winning gold on vault, bars, and beam, and placing fourth on floor.

Other medal winners included Janell Lutz and Amanda Biro. Lutz won bronze on beam in Class III, Open competition to finish seventh all around. In the Class I, Tyro division, Biro received bronze on bars and ended up finishing fifth all-around. Bronwyn Bone and Mikayla Salmond also competed at the CanAm Invitational. Bone placed ninth all-around the Class III, Open division. Salmond competed in the Class 11, Open division, finishing tenth all-around.

The Twisters travelled to Prince Albert over the weekend to attend a meet. They will be competing at a meet hosted by the Regina Queen City Kids on April 14th.
