The Canadian Quilting Trunk Show was at the Chapel Gallery Thursday afternoon.
Local quilting enthusiasts gathered for a presentation by fibre artist Jaynie Himsl who has been accompanying the national show to Saskatchewan venues. On exhibition were 19 nationally adjudicated works that have been donated to the Canadian Quilters’ Association by quilters from across Canada.
The quilts have been available for sale at $200 each, with proceeds going to the Children’s Wish Foundation, and by the time the show reached North Battleford, there were only two left unsold. They will remain with the show until its tour is over in June, culminating with the Canadian Quilters’ Association annual Quilt Canada event to be held this year in Lethbridge, Alta.
Himsl also brought with her some of her own work. Himsl says she became a member of the Canadian Quilter’s Association simply to obtain its magazine, but found herself becoming happily involved in the group of fellow fibre artists, attending conventions and learning new techniques. She encouraged those attending the show to consider joining the association.
