TISDALE — Tisdale’s Handibus will resume services for three days a week, beginning June 16.
The Handibus service provides transportation to community members with a disability that require a special mode of transportation to get around.
The service is mostly used within the community for groceries, concerts, medical appointments and more.
“There’s guidelines out there from the province, and we just felt it was time,” said Brad Hvidston, Tisdale’s administrator. “It’s hard for those residents that require that mode of transportation to get around.”
The Handibus will currently only be available for rides on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Hvidston said this is tied to a decrease in its overall use for the past few years.
“Right now, a majority of the use of the Handibus is coming from the long-term care facilities or care of those people or transportation of people in that facility. We decided, since those facilities are still restricted for the time being and that that’s the majority of our customers, it may not be needed seven days a week.”
To utilize the Handibus service, Tisdale residents can contact 306-873-1468.
Hvidston said active days may be adjusted based on feedback.
In addition to the Handibus, as of June 12, all Town of Tisdale Parks will officially open back up as per the announcement from the government.
Some parks included in this are Rae's Action Sports Park, Memorial Park, Ronnie's Family Park, Montgomery Park and the fairgrounds.
“There will be notices posted, if you’re feeling sick or around someone who is feeling sick then don’t attend the park and maintain your distancing,” Hvidston said. “The town won’t be doing any special disinfecting of the playground, so use at your own discretion.”
