TISDALE — Tisdale council is continuing to discuss whether a ban on pitbulls and other dog breeds in the town will help protect citizens.
Al Jellicoe, Tisdale’s mayor, said they will be looking for more information on whether the ban is something the town wants to put a bylaw in place for pitbulls or any other dog breeds.
“At this point, we aren’t looking at a bylaw to ban pitfalls or any breeds of dogs. We just want to add some more information on what kind of other conditions that we should maybe have to protect the public.”
Other alternatives to a ban bylaw might be changes to the dog licensing within the town or putting fines in place if dogs are loose, he said.
Also discussed at the Tisdale council meeting was business licenses and building permits. Both numbers were stable for this time of year, Jellicoe said, with COVID having little impact on either.
“A lot of people are just fixing up their houses rather than looking at building new [but] our numbers are pretty close to last year for the building permits,” he said.
While the months of March and April were quiet for business licenses, numbers were recently back to normal, Jellicoe said.
