TISDALE — Heritage Road is being paved from Highway 3 to 94th Avenue, in a project that is estimated to be completed in July.
“If you’re on Highway 3, and you turn at Fairburn Tire, you’re on Heritage Road. We’re paving from there across the first set of railroad tracks to that first avenue,” said Brad Hvidston, Tisdale’s administrator.
The asphalt is being laid to accommodate heavy haul transportation so that it can handle heavier traffic.
“It’s just a really busy road that requires a lot of maintenance and I think it’s a betterment to the community to have it paved.”
The paving project has an estimated cost of $155,000.
Due to it being passed under the Local Improvements Act, businesses on the street will be responsible for half the cost of the paving, and the town will be responsible for the other half. As a result, the businesses have the right to petition against the work if they choose.
Hvidston said the town has been in communication with them, and the majority is supportive of the project.
“Anything we’ve heard back has been positive. I think for the most part they’re looking forward to it.”
