Tisdale Trojans defeat Thunder Bay Kings at their home rink

TISDALE — Playing on home ice wasn't enough for the Thunder Bay Kings as the Tisdale Trojans defeated them 4-2 in their second game of the national Telus Cup.

TISDALE — Playing on home ice wasn't enough for the Thunder Bay Kings as the Tisdale Trojans defeated them 4-2 in their second game of the national Telus Cup.

It took most of the first period to pass before Trojan Mackenzie Carson scored the first goal of the game past the 15 minute mark. Colby Vranai then took advantage of a power play to score the Trojans' second goal.

The second period saw Thunder Bay's Peter Hannula score his team's first goal.

Nicholas DeGrazia of the Kings then tied the game during a power play 32 seconds into the third period. The Trojans quickly answered a minute later with a goal by Trenton Curtis. Jayden Wiens then sealed the deal for the Trojans with an empty netter.

Tanner Martin of the Trojans stopped 24 out of 26 shots on his net, while his counterpart Eric Vanska stopped 28 out of 31.

The Trojans have won one game and lost one game at the Telus Cup, leaving them with two points. The Cantonniers de Magog have four points, while Thunder Bay has zero points. The other three teams have two points.

The next team the Trojans will face are the Halifax Macs. The game is April 24 at 2 pm Saskatchewan time.
