Tisdale Trojans see action in four Mac's Tournament round robin games

The Tisdale Trojans have completed their four games in the round robin of the Mac's Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament, winning one game and losing three. The tournament is held in Calgary from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1.

The Tisdale Trojans have completed their four games in the round robin of the Mac's Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament, winning one game and losing three.

The tournament is held in Calgary from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1.

Not all teams in the Trojans' pool had played four games yet at the time this article was written.

 

Versus St. Albert Raiders, Dec. 27

The first game in the tournament for the Trojans saw them defeat the St. Albert Raiders 5-2.

Colton Schell of the Trojans drew first blood with the only goal of the first period with help from Brett Neumeier and Rhett Frey.

The second period saw the most action, with Cade Hayes of the Trojans scoring during a power play with help from Luc Marleau. That was quickly answered by Brett Bamber of the Raiders with a goal of his own. The Trojans scored two more goals: one by Marleau with aid from David Wiens and Landon Kosior, and the other by Liam Rutten with help from Marleau.

Aidan West of the Raiders scored during the third period. That was followed by Colton Schell with an assist from Davis Chorney.

Roddy Ross of the Trojans stopped 20 goals from entering the net, while St. Albert stopped 17.

 

Versus Calgary Royals, Dec. 28

The game against the Calgary Royals, which was won by Calgary 3-1 Dec. 28 went off to a slow start.

No goals scored until Calgary's Alex Heal got the puck between the pipes during the second period.

In the third, Rutten scored the Trojans' first and only goal with help from Marleau and Carter Lake. That was followed with Calgary goals from Ben Zloty and Andres Bridgewater.

 

Versus Hungarian National U18, Dec. 29

The next day, Dec. 29, the Trojans faced the Hungarian National U18 team and lost 4-1.

The Trojans' Hayes scored two minutes into the game, with help from Luke Arndt and Kalen Ukrainetz.

The Hungarians followed that up with four goals by Mate Seregely, Mark Almasi, Laszlo Horvath and Patrik Kemeny.

Ross stopped 28 pucks from entering the Trojan's net, while Hungarian goalie Lajos Gonczi stopped 21.

 

Versus Fraser Valley Thunderbirds, Dec. 30

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds got off to a strong start during the Dec. 30, catapulting them into a 5-3 victory.

The Thunderbirds scored twice in the first period, with goals from Jackson Mainse and Gage Gonclaves, and three times in the second, with goals from Gonclaves, Ethan Bowen and Andrew Sorensen.

It was with three minutes left in the second period the Trojans began to rally, with a power play goal from Zack Smith with help from left. In the third period, Wiens scored with help from Kosior. With 41 seconds left on the clock, Ukrainetz scored during a power play.

The Trojans' Tanner Martin stopped 22 shots, while the Thunderbirds stopped 28.
