Tree planting milestone

"If trees gave off Wifi signals, we would be planting so many trees we'd probably save the planet. Too bad they only give off the oxygen we breathe.

"If trees gave off Wifi signals, we would be planting so many trees we'd probably save the planet. Too bad they only give off the oxygen we breathe."

This was the encouragement given by John Paul II Collegiate teacher and Key Club advisor Joey Sadlowski to more than 60 Key Club kids who hit a milestone set a decade ago – 20,000 trees planted in the Battlefords.

"The idea came from students, but it seemed an unattainable goal back then," explains Sadlowski.

"Students take a special kind of pride when they point out trees we'd planted six or seven years ago. It is a remarkable achievement."
