Truck stopped for travelling 161 km/h on Highway 303

Between April 24 and April 30, Maidstone RCMP Detachment and Enhanced Policing Unit stopped several vehicles for a variety of traffic infractions. April 26, a car travelling at 148 km/h on Highway 16 near Marshall was stopped.

Between April 24 and April 30, Maidstone RCMP Detachment and Enhanced Policing Unit stopped several vehicles for a variety of traffic infractions.

April 26, a car travelling at 148 km/h on Highway 16 near Marshall was stopped. The driver, a youth, was charged with operating a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 km/h over the applicable speed limit.

April 27, a truck travelling  at 161 km/h on Highway 303 near Lloydminster was intercepted. The driver, an adult male from Lloydminster, was charged with exceeding lawful posted speed limit by more than 50 km/h.

April 28, a truck was seen operating in a dangerous and careless manner on Highway 17 in the RM of Britannia. The driver, a female from Onion Lake, was charged with driving a vehicle without reasonable consideration for others.

April 29, a car travelling 141 km/h on Highway 303 near Lloydminster was stopped. The driver, an adult male from Lloydminster, was charged with operating a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 km/h over the applicable speed limit.

April 30, a truck travelling 132 km/h on Township Road 504 (Four Mile Road) near Lloydminster was pulled over. The driver, an adult male from the RM of Britannia, was charged with exceeding the lawful posted speed limit by more than 50 km/h.

Since Jan. 1 there have been 85 traffic collisions reported to the Maidstone RCMP detachment and 342 traffic related charges laid, eight of which were a Criminal Code offences.

The Maidstone RCMP  remind all motorist to slow down given the increasingly warmer weather and drive in a safe and courteous manner.

“Also please remember to not stop or park on any highway or other high traffic roadway unless absolutely required, as you or your vehicle may be struck by passing traffic,” says Cst. Ryan Reid, Enhanced Policing Unit.

“If you need to stop, please activate your four-way signals and pull off on to an approach or side road where you are safer.”
