Best Overall photo - Canada Day at the Fort

Each year, the City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism challenges shutterbugs of all ages and skill level to capture the essence of the city in a single snapshot. The "Best of the Battlefords' photo contest awards the best entries and showcases all of the entries on their websites and in various publications.

"We could easily use stock photos or go out and snap our own photographs for use on our websites and publications, but this gives the community a chance to get creative and show us what they think is great about the Battlefords," said Mike Halstead, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, City of North Battleford. "The photos make our promotional items look polished and, of course, local."

The deadline for entries was Aug.15 and the winners of this years contest have been announced. Eight categories were reduced to four this year: Battlefords Vacation, Events, Urban Life and Sports and Recreation.

Winners of each of the categories were awarded a prize valued at $100. Sponsors included Battlefords Tourism, Canadian Tire, City of North Battleford, Porta Bella Restaurant and Wal-Mart. The Best Overall was presented a prize valued at $250 from Bannerman Photo. Photos were judged by quality and whether the submitted photos suited the themes they were submitted under. Owen Bannerman of Bannerman Photo, Diana Tucker of Battlefords Tourism and Mike Halstead from the City of North Battleford decided the winning entries.
