Two facing drug trafficking, weapons charges get bail in Meadow Lake court

Kiera McKay and Brandon Campeau were arrested by Meadow Lake RCMP after police raided a home on 3rd Avenue West on April 19 and seized weapons and drugs

MEADOW LAKE – Two people facing drug trafficking and weapons charges have been released on bail.

Twenty-one-year-old Kiera McKay and 29-year-old Brandon Campeau were granted bail after an appearance in Meadow Lake court April 21. They are now scheduled to appear on June 27 to elect how they want to be tried.

McKay and Campeau were arrested by Meadow Lake RCMP after police raided a home on 3rd Avenue West April 19 and seized weapons and drugs. They were both charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Campeau was additionally charged with flight from police. During the investigation, the suspects got into a car and fled from police before being located again and arrested.

Police say that the arrest was part of their ongoing gang suppression and violence reduction strategy.

The charges against McKay and Campeau haven’t been proven in court.
