Two Northwest 4-H members are among 15 who have qualified as recipients of the 2013 John Deere Canada 4-H Scholarships.

The Canadian 4-H Council has announced Jacqueline Toews of Glaslyn and Oliver Edwards of Major have each earned $2,000 towards their post-secondary education this fall.

Makayla Rettger of Aberdeen was the other Saskatchewan 4-Her to earn a scholarship.

The funding for these scholarships is made possible by John Deere Canada and the participating dealerships' commitment of $30,000 to support post-secondary education of 4-H students.

"John Deere Canada and our many dealers have been long-time supporters of 4-H clubs in local communities across the country," said Jason Tucker, manager of John Deere's Agricultural and Turf business in Canada.

"As part of the organizations 100th anniversary, we are proud to provide scholarships that will help further the education of our next generation of community and business leaders."

The other students picking up scholarships were from Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Quebec.

"We are very pleased to provide this scholarship with the help and support of John Deere Canada and their dealers," said Sue Wood, manager of admissions at 4-H Canada. "This scholarship helps 4?H youth pursue their dreams through post-secondary education, and nurtures their future as leaders in agriculture."
