The United Way has launched its Give Away raffle campaign for 2013.
Ticket sales began June 14, with the main draw happening Oct. 26 between 2 and 3 p.m. at the Battlefords Best Tradeshow, Credit Union CUPlex.
A total of 5,000 single tickets have been printed and each one goes for a price of $20. The retail value of the prizes being offered is $39,399.
The main prize is a 2013 all-wheel drive Chevrolet Trax, sponsored by Bridges Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd. Its retail value is over $32,000.
Second prize is a $5,000 home renovation gift card from Battlefords and District Co-op. Third prize is an LG 60" TV from Logan's Audio Video and fourth prize is an ultimate indulgence day spa package valued at $300 from Logan's Day Spa.
According to Brendon Boothman, chair of the raffle committee, the United Way came up with the idea of a raffle as a "new, fresh idea" to raise money for their annual campaign.
"We're hoping we can sell out before then (Oct. 26), but if not, then we're going to be selling tickets at the trade show as well," said Boothman.
This is the first year for the raffle and Boothman expects it will become an annual event.
"This will be our major fundraiser for the year," said Boothman. The hope is to raise up to $70,000 from the raffle.
