Happy Summer. A beautiful long weekend in Maymont, the odd dribble but we were still able to get yard work done, coffee on the deck, maybe even a wiener roast. Hope you all had a good one.
The library had their annual meeting May 16. Thanks to those who came out. It’s looking good for us keeping our library; the numbers of new customers are up, great news. Our library also has a book club. For more information give Lynda a call and she will update you on the information. Some of you may ask, “What is a book club.” Well, here’s a bit of information and some of the books that people have read who belong to book clubs. A book club is a reading group, usually consisting of a number of people who read and then talk about the same book they are all reading. Books are picked by members of the book club. Some of the book clubs are focused on certain genres like romance or horror, history or other interesting genre. Sometimes the book club will only read certain authors or series. Some of the books I found that have been read by book clubs are The Help, The Book Thief, The Nigh Circus, Sarah’s Key and The Girl on the Train. If interested please call Lynda.
The Village of Maymont is having a garage sale June 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone will have their own signage so check down every street to find your way to the treasures. The Maymont Memorial Hall will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs on Main Street. There’s always something the old hall needs which takes money and the hall members work hard to do what they can to raise money.
The park board at Glenburn would like you to join them the same day but later on in the afternoon June 10. They are celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Hard to believe the park has been around for 50 years. They will be having a beef on a bun supper, but if you are interested you’ll have to call a board member before the 26th. There will be entertainment (DJ) and also a beer garden. Be great to see you support the Maymont Hall and also Glenburn Park. See you there.
