The Battlefords RCMP have issued the following statement regarding the arrest of a violent offender locally:
For the past number of weeks the Battlefords Municipal GIS Unit and the Provincial Crime Reduction Team, were engaged in an investigation to locate a high risk violent offender who was believed to be residing in the Battlefords. This extensive investigation confirmed that this offender was on a Canada Wide warrant for parole violation and was indeed living in the Battlefords and area.
On Aug. 25, the offender was located and the RCMP Emergency Response Team was engaged to effect the arrest. The offender and three other adult males were arrested at a residential address on the 500 block of 103rd Street in North Battleford without incident. The RCMP investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
The RCMP would like to thank the public for the many tips that were provided to the police with regards to this investigation.
