Humboldt's grain elevators are set for a major upgrade.Viterra Inc., one of Canada's largest grain handlers, has committed $20 million to upgrade four terminals, including Humboldt's."This project is the latest in a series of improvements designed to increase our level of service and, combined with the knowledge and expertise of our grain marketing specialists, further strengthen our partnership with local producers," said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra's President and CEO for North America, in a recent release.Capacity at the Humboldt elevator will double. To handle this increased capacity, Viterra also announced rail capacity expansions in Humboldt. With a similar announcement from CN just a couple of weeks ago, it looks like both grain and rail infrastructure in Humboldt is set to reach a new level.
