Team Silvernagle is guaranteed a spot in the 2018 Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincials after defeating Team Elberle in the 1 vs. 2 game.
“It’s get us one game closer to where we want to be,” said Jolene Campbell, Team Silvernagle’s third, after the Jan. 6 game. “It was nice to come out, keep building and play a good game, and get ourselves into that final.”
The final score of the game ended up being 8-2.
Chantelle Eberele, Team Eberele’s skip, wasn’t happy with the result, saying the team had a slight case of the nerves.
“We did not take advantage of our opportunities, so we’ll have to do that tomorrow,” she said. “Maybe we’ve got the nerves out, we’ll be ready during tomorrow’s game.”

The first four ends saw neither time score. That changed in the fifth, when Team Silvernagle scored three points.
“We just took the hammer and controlled the game until we wanted to get aggressive and when we did get aggressive, we put our rocks in great spots and got a three,” Campbell said, “We like to play defense. That’s the strong part of our game, so if we can get up a couple of points, we feel really comfortable with that.”
Team Silvernagle received another point in the sixth, Team Eberle scored two in the seventh, and Team Silvernagle scored one in the eighth.
Yet coming into the ninth, there was still a chance for Team Eberle to recover. At one point, they had three rocks in the centre, protected by guards. Then Team Silvernagle managed to get through and took control of the button.
“Robyn [Silvernagle, Team Silvernagle's skip] made a great double in nine. Christie [Gamble, Team Eberle’s third] kind of put hers in the worst spot and Robyn made a perfect double and got the roll, so that put a lot of pressure on Chantelle to just even try and score.”
“We have opportunities to get around the guards and we didn’t,” said Eberele, adding they crashed into one rock, rolling it into a bad position, which Team Silvernagle used to peel.
With Team Silvernagle getting three points, Team Eberle conceeded.
Campbell said starting the last day with only the final to worry about means they can keep their routine.
“We just a little bit of practice time tomorrow, so that will be nice. Our day will be similar to our day today, so that’s nice, when you can get into a routine of doing the same thing, so that will feel good,” she said. “It just feels good to get into that big game.”

Meanwhile, Team Eberle will face Team S. Anderson, who defeated Team Barker 4-3 in the tiebreaker game.
“We feel good about it. We’ve played them already and had a really good game,” Eberle said. “We’re going to keep throwing the rocks we had and feel good about it. We’ll just have to come with two Ws tomorrow.”
