Update: Police say that further investigation by police has determined the adult male was not in possession of a firearm in the initial report yesterday evening. Based on investigation to date, the male is still considered to be dangerous and police are actively searching for him. It cannot be confirmed whether the male is armed with any weapons. Wakaw RCMP continue to encourage residents in the community to exercise caution.

WAKAW – RCMP are asking people to avoid One Arrow First Nation during an ongoing investigation.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Wakaw RCMP responded to the report of a violent assault involving the use of a firearm at a residence in the One Arrow First Nation community.
The police’s preliminary investigation determined the incident was targeted and the suspect is believed to be an adult man.
Wakaw RCMP have been conducting patrols in the community and interviewing witnesses. Officers have also been in communication with the leadership at the One Arrow First Nation community to relay steps residents can take to help maintain their safety.
Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section have been called to assist. There will be an increased presence in the community for an undetermined amount of time as officers work to locate the man.
People are asked to avoid the areas where police are present and follow any police direction provided.
RCMP say they will provide an update on this investigation with more information as soon as they are able. If an increased risk to public safety is identified, they will notify the public.
