On the heels of their request to North Battleford council for more money, the North Battleford Water Doves synchronized swim club has received help by way of a community grant.
The Parks and Recreation Committee approved the grant for $7,500 at their meeting Monday afternoon.
The funding covers a portion of their expenses, but $2,000 of that amount is specifically to upgrade their sound system, which has been under strain as it had to be turned up to full blast for use in the new Battlefords Co-op Aquatic Centre last year.
Representing the Water Doves at the meeting was their secretary Linda Machniak and treasurer Melanie Roberts.
The request met the criteria for Sask. Lotteries funding and was approved by the committee in the full amount requested.
Following that approval, committee chair Don Buglas made clear the funding was only a temporary measure.
"They need to be coming up with a plan, as this is a stop-gap measure," said Buglas.
