Woman, 76, suspect in death of woman, 85, in care home

An 85-year-old woman has died after being assaulted in a care home in Prince Albert

PRINCE ALBERT – Prince Albert Police say that a 76-year-old woman is the suspect in the death of an 85-year-old woman but no charges have been laid.

No arrests have been made while the Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate, said Charlene Tebbutt, spokesperson for PA Police.

“Investigators are liaising with the Office of the Chief Coroner, as well as the Crown Prosecutor’s Office,” said Tebbutt.

According to police, an assault occurred between two residents at a care home in the 700 block of 28 St. East in Prince Albert on Aug. 14. An 85-year-old woman was taken in serious condition by Parkland Ambulance to the Victoria Hospital.  She died on Aug. 19 due to her injuries.

On August 19, 2022, the victim passed away due to injuries received during the assault five days prior.
