Woman accused of burning down P.A. memorial centre appears in court

Gina Pearl Beatty is charged with arson after the memorial centre burned to the ground April 15.

PRINCE ALBERT – A 24-year-old woman accused of burning down the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre made her first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday.

Gina Pearl Beatty was charged with arson after the memorial centre burned to the ground April 15. Beatty is also charged with assault in a separate incident. The charges against her haven't been proven in court. 

The Crown is opposed to Beatty’s release and she was remanded in custody. A show cause hearing has now been scheduled for Wednesday.

There were no injuries in the fire and it didn’t spread to any other structures or property.
