An Onion Lake woman accused of an armed robbery at a hotel in Lloydminster pleaded guilty to stealing a parcel off someone’s doorstep.
Kacey Dillon, 20, pleaded guilty in Lloydminster Provincial Court on May 20 to theft under $5,000, breaching a condition not to have a weapon, failing to appear in court and obstruction.
North Battleford Senior Crown Prosecutor Scott Bartlett told the court that on April 6 a man living on 45 Street on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster reported that his delivered Amazon package was stolen off his doorstep. He had video in his doorbell, which recorded Dillon on the steps and then leaving with the package.
Bartlett also told the court that on April 7 Dillon was located at Harvey’s in Lloydminster on outstanding warrants. When police took her to the detachment they found social insurance cards and other identification belonging to three people on her possession.
Also, in August 2020, RCMP stopped the driver of a stolen vehicle and Dillon was in the front passenger seat with an open bottle of vodka. She provided a false name to police.
The Crown and defence lawyer Ron Piche entered a joint submission to the court on sentencing. Dillon was given a global sentence of 60 days time served while in custody on armed robbery charges. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $79.59 to the Lloydminster resident for the cost of the contents of the stolen package.
Dillon pleaded not guilty today to the charges stemming from the armed robbery. According to Lloydminster RCMP, three people robbed a hotel at gunpoint at 1:19 p.m. on March 29. Police say they fled in one of the victim’s vehicles. She elected trial by provincial court judge.
A trial date, for Dillon and her co-accused Rocky Justice Wuttunee, 20, and Jade Whitstone, 29, will be set on June 7.
Wuttunee was arrested in April and has been denied bail.
Whitstone remains at large. He is described as a 5-foot-6 Indigenous man, weighing 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Police advise the public not to approach Whitstone.
If you have any information about Whitstone’s whereabouts, contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
