RCMP have released the name of a Biggar area woman who died Monday in a crash between a school bus and a truck at about 4 p.m. on Highway 4 between Biggar and Cando.

Police say the woman is Monica Domes, 40, of the Biggar district. Her age was previously reported as 39.

Biggar RCMP report the woman who died had exited the parked Ford F250 pulling a cattle trailer that was on the side of the highway facing north off the north bound lane about 24 kilometres north of Biggar. The truck was hit from behind by a 38-passenger bus with three children on board, the police report.

Still in the truck was an adult male, who was not injured. The pair was waiting for assistance with a mechanical issue, according to the RCMP.

Biggar EMS, fire department and RCMP were dispatched. EMS transported the woman to Biggar hospital. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The three children on the bus were transported to Biggar hospital as a precaution and were released later that evening with minor cuts and bruises. The bus driver was also held overnight in the hospital for observation and has since been transferred to a Saskatoon hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known. RCMP later confirmed the woman who died was the mother of two of the children on the bus.

Highway 4 was closed for about six hours while an RCMP collision analyst conducted his investigation.
