The fire ban in place for the City of North Battleford since April 22 has been lifted. Environmental conditions have improved to a level that allows burning to take place.

EAST CENTRAL — Class will not look the same when students return in September as it did in March – that is, if they return to a physical classroom.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt is withdrawing from a regional alliance of towns, villages and rural municipalities. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the city will no longer be a member of the Mid-Sask Municipal Alliance.

NIPAWIN — David Balding, a firefighter from B.C. with 35 years of experience, has been hired to be Nipawin’s new fire chief. Balding started as a volunteer firefighter in Malahat, B.C., located on Vancouver Island, in 1985.

The City of North Battleford is seeking the ability to impose clean-up costs associated with policing on properties so that could be added to the property tax roll in case of default of payment.

As of May 28, 2020, there are two new cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 639. One new case is in the North region and one is in the Saskatoon region. Of the 639 reported cases, 61 are considered active.

The RCMP Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network is reporting that there has been break ins in the Maidstone area.

RM OF WOLVERINE — A John Deere garden tractor along with tiller, mower, front blade and snow blower attachments was stolen from an acreage in the RM of Wolverine. Humboldt RCMP learned of the theft on May 28.

EAST CENTRAL — Favourable weather in the province this week meant substantial seeding progress in all regions.
