Submitted Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority is warning Saskatchewan residents about door-to-door driveway repair scams. Some salespeople may not be licensed or may use leftover materials that result in low quality work. Check for a license.

YELLOW QUILL FIRST NATION — Various small items were stolen from a Yellow Quill First Nation home after it was broken into. The crime happened between July 9 and July 23. The Greenwater RCMP said they are continuing their investigation.

The Water Security Agency and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health are advising the public to avoid swimming in or drinking water where blue-green algae blooms are occurring.

New figures released last week show Saskatchewan had the highest increase in average weekly earnings among the provinces in May, up 5.8 per cent year-over-year, well ahead of the national increase of 3.4 per cent.

EAST CENTRAL — A wind warning has been issued for the area around Humboldt. "Strong northwesterly winds gusting at times to near 90 kilometres per hour are expected to develop across the region this morning.

NIPAWIN —The Town of Nipawin has begun to look at problematic intersections and streets for a traffic study, which could result in additional stop signs or other changes.

HUMBOLDT — Finance minister and Humbolt-Watrous MLA Donna Harpauer gave a group of Humboldt business leaders more insight into the province’s finances last week. Harpauer was a guest speaker at a Humboldt Chamber of Commerce luncheon on July 18.

PRAIRIE RIVER — Ron and Dennis Gel woke up to find two of their cattle herd dead – believing lightning to be the culprit. “We presume that’s what happened, because there was a wicked ol’ lightning storm,” Ron said.
