The link between the Golburn Agricultural Society and the Golburn Gallopers 4-H Light Horse Club was on full display at this year’s Golburn Fair.

It took a year and a half for the Carrot River Co-op to secure the licence to open a liquor store. That effort was celebrated at a grand opening at the co-op’s 1013 Main location.

With harvest beginning in various parts of Saskatchewan, people travelling our province’s highways are reminded to plan ahead, be patient and watch for large farm equipment.

Despite rain delays in some areas, producers in the province now have seven per cent of the crop in the bin and seven per cent swathed or ready to straight-cut.

It was Cayden Cummings of Nipawin who first crossed the finish line at the ninth annual Tri-Unity Challenge. The 11-year-old boy, who likes long distance running more than sprinting, said he was pleased with the race.

Discovery Ford opened up their lot for car enthusiasts to show off their classic, vintage, antique and custom Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles at the sixth annual Discovery Ford Classic Car Show on Aug. 12.

There will be four candidates running to fill the empty spot on Nipawin’s council. Janice Boughen , Les McBain , Kelly Peterson and Mary Kube will run for the seat left open by the resignation of Marla Walton . The election will be held Sept. 20.

As September approaches and the growing season nears an end, the Djerksons are more than satisfied with what’s been coming out of their garden. For some reason, their garden is producing 20-inch cucumbers.

4-H, Cody Somers says, is about more than cows and cookies. Somers has returned from a recent 4-H summit in Ottawa. The summit, featuring workshops and keynote speakers, went from July 11-14 and hosted participants from a number of countries.
