The first meeting of the newly-elected council in the Town of Battleford was called to order Monday evening, Nov. 7.

It was a momentous night for the six councillors sworn in Monday night in North Battleford.

Saskatchewan RCMP has requested an independent external investigation of the circumstances surrounding an incident in the Unity RCMP detachment area near the Alberta border. On Nov. 7, 2016 at approximately 1:00 p.m.

Ryan Bater was sworn in Monday night as the new mayor of North Battleford. Bater and the six members of council were sworn in during what was a ceremonial first council meeting of the 2016-20 term.

Agriculture and other professionals gathered at Western Development Museum on a topic of mounting concern — leafy spurge. The occasion was a Leafy Spurge Solutions Symposium held in North Battleford last Thursday.

Richard Scotton was having a regular day until he checked his LOTTO MAX ticket. The North Battleford man won $100,000 on the Oct. 21 EXTRA draw. “I went to the store to get a coffee and check my ticket,” he said.

The call from the 911 dispatcher comes at 1 a.m. There is a house on fire in Spruce Home, 20 kilometres north of Prince Albert. The occupants have evacuated, but an adjoining garage and workshop contains fuel cans.

Battleford RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest in a robbery that occurred the evening of Oct. 1.

Battlefords RCMP responded to over 60 calls for service from 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5 to 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 including the following incidents: Friday, Nov. 5 6:55 a.m. - Report of a male on Gardiner Dr. who looked confused.
