Mervin 4-H Beef Club hosted the district speeches for district 38 at Mervin recently. A total of 24 speakers from seven clubs came. First place winner in the seniors category was Amy Carruthers from Paradise Hill.

The Maidstone RCMP is reporting a week with 89 occurrences between Sunday, March 13 and Saturday, March 19. Some of the most common calls received were related to traffic, possession of drugs, thefts and fraud.

A performance by Order of Canada recipient Susan Aglukark will round out the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts Presents 2015-16 season. A new date has been announced for the show, originally scheduled for Thursday, June 9.

The Watoto Children's Choir will be returning to North Battleford Thursday, March 31 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 1302-99 St., 7 p.m. The choir is touring Canada with the production entitled Oh What Love! from January to July 2016.

On March 20, between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the town of Lashburn, it was reported that two Ford pickup trucks had been vandalized during an apparent theft attempt.
