Battlefords RCMP will be in a number of school zones in the Battlefords area to bring awareness to parents and the motoring public about school zone safety when school buses are present.

The Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention was held in Regina this past week and the biggest news to come out of it was confirmation by Premier Brad Wall that the provincial government would run a deficit.

An active and distinguished member of the local First Nation community in the Battlefords has passed away. Harold Greyeyes died Jan. 31 at the age of 86. He leaves behind his wife Estelle and his family.

Distracted driving is the traffic safety spotlight for the month of February. Police across the province will be watching for people using cellphones to talk, text, email or surf the Internet while driving.

KINLEY — A 43-year-old Kinley man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of 26-year-old Beverly Littlecrow, also of Kinley, Jan. 24.

GOODSOIL — Curtis and James Hofer say they were convinced something was wrong with the barcode when the ticket checker showed their Lotto Max ticket had won $1,000,000.

The Wadena RCMP report that 85-year-ol Mike Daviduk, who has been mising since Feb. 1 has been located deceased with his vehicle in the RM of Lakeview approximately four miles west and 1/2 mile south of Wadena.

The traffic light at the Main Street and HWY 5 intersection is down after a Super B collided with the traffic pole and knocked it over at around 5:15 pm on Jan. 26. The driver tried to take a right hand turn from Main St.
