People with loved ones in long term care and personal care homes got some long-awaited good news Thursday.

EAST CENTRAL — The North East School Division (NESD) budget is on track, but wouldn’t have been had it not been for the province’s COVID-19 emergency funding, according to Wanda McLeod, the division’s superintendent of business.

RM OF HUMBOLDT — A tender to build a southbound bypass lane at the Highway 20 – Manor Park Road intersection south of Humboldt has been issued by the provincial government.

A bail hearing for a man accused of pointing a firearm at someone, assaulting three other people with his vehicle, and then escaping police custody, didn’t proceed today in North Battleford Provincial Court.

Vaccines Reported An additional 7,333 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 372,334.

The two structures that were heavily damaged in fires earlier this year in Battleford are not yet demolished, and that has prompted some concerns from residents.

RM OF TORCH RIVER — Open burning is believed to be the cause of a structure fire which destroyed a barn north west of Love. The Nipawin Fire Department responded to the call on April 17 at 3:25 p.m.

The good news for town of Battleford residents is there’s no increase in the municipal portion of property taxes. The bad news is the education portion of property tax is going up.

A new tax of 20 per cent on the retail price of all vapour liquids, products and devices will take effect in Saskatchewan on Sept. 1. Legislation to implement the new Vapour Products Tax (VPT) was introduced in the legislature this week.
