A former member of the Battlefords North Stars is recovering in an Edmonton hospital after a scary situation over the weekend.

Battleford native Blake Young has had to deal with a return to reality over the last couple of days. After winning a national championship in his final NCAA Division I hockey game with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs Saturday night in St. Paul, Minn.

Like everyone throughout the province of Saskatchewan, the hearts and minds of the Battlefords North Stars are with the Humboldt Broncos after the team bus was involved in a devastating accident Friday.

Twenty-five years is a long time. For the Bruno Sledge Hockey T-Birds that long time is now a reality. The club recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. To help celebrate, the club welcomed teams from all over the province for a tournament.

It was the perfect ending for the college hockey career for Battleford product Blake Young. The former Battlefords North Stars forward ended his time with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs with a national championship Saturday night in St. Paul, Minn.

The death toll of a tragic bus accident involving the Humboldt Broncos has increased to 15. Initial reports had suggested there were 14 fatalities arising from the incident.
