The Meota Combines continued to roll in Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League action over the weekend.

The Battleford Beaver Blues (8-5-0-0) and Meota Combines (10-2-0-0) both picked up wins on the road Tuesday. In Maymont, the Beaver Blues played a rematch with the Settlers (4-4-0-1) and picked up a 9-5 win.

The Battlefords North Stars (18-13-6-0) power play looked far and away better than it has over the course of the season, but two short-handed goals from the Humboldt Broncos (16-19-3-0) was the difference in a 4-3 Broncos win Tuesday.

The Battleford Barons AA Atom Tier 1 team hosted the Wade Belak Memorial hockey tournament over the weekend, winning the championship.

Urgency. It is a word the Humboldt Broncos have been talking about, head coach Ryan Smith said. Last week, the team definitely demonstrated some urgency as it defeated the Yorkton Terriers in a pair of games.

GATINEAU, QUE. — The Canadian Museum of History has announced it has acquired the world's oldest known ice hockey stick. Known as the Moffatt stick, it was hand hewn in the 1830s in Cape Breton, N.S., from a single piece of sugar maple.

The Battlefords AAA Stars (18-9-0-1) picked up an easy win, and a hard fought loss against the Swift Current Legionnaires (7-21-0-2) over the weekend.

The Meota Combines (9-2-0-0) won their ninth straight game, and the Battleford Beaver Blues (7-5-0-0) picked up a win and a loss over the weekend.
