Humboldt ministerial message: How to quench spiritual thirst

The power of thirst is something that cannot be ignored. If the power of physical thirst can be so impactful on the human body then how much more would spiritual thirst be to the soul of a person?

The power of thirst is something that cannot be ignored. If the power of physical thirst can be so impactful on the human body then how much more would spiritual thirst be to the soul of a person?
There is always that time on a hot day that we look for something nice and cold to drink.

For the most part this usually ends up being a nice cold glass of water. It’s so refreshing and it revives the body in ways that no other drink can. It’s amazing how something so simple can be so satisfying especially on the hottest of days.

The power of thirst is something that cannot be ignored. In fact according to Medical News Today, researchers tell us that Humans can only survive a short amount of time without water because the body needs it for almost every process, including: regulating body temperature aiding in digestion, moistening mucous membranes, helping to balance the pH of the body, lubricating joints among so much more.

If the power of physical thirst can be so impactful on the human body then how much more would spiritual thirst be to the soul of a person? In John chapter 4, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman by a well. Jesus initiated a conversation with her by asking her to give him a drink of water.

Taken aback that a Jew would make such a request completely caught this woman off guard. She responded by saying ,“You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” (John 4:9b NLT).

Unfazed, Jesus replied, “if you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” (John 4:10, NLT).

Living water is not available physically anywhere on the earth. It is spiritual water that quenches spiritual thirst.

Jesus continued to explain, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

Desperate to have her thirst quenched the woman tells Jesus, “Please, sir, give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.” (John 4:13-15 NLT).

As they continue to talk the woman sees that she is not speaking with an ordinary person. Jesus later revealed to her that he was the Messiah. The one who her people were waiting on to come and deliver from oppressive rule of the Romans. Just one encounter with Jesus – the giver of living water – brought her healing, deliverance, restoration and so much more. It changed her life forever!

This living water is available to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God. He is forever ready to give access to this living water that is found only in Him. To be a partaker of this living water please say this short prayer after me: Dear Heavenly Father, I repent of my sin. Please forgive me. I believe that Jesus died for me and resurrected on the third day. I declare Jesus Lord over my life. Jesus came into the world so that I could have access to this living water and eternal life. Thank you for giving me this wonderful gift. Let this living water gush into every aspect of my life in Jesus name. Amen.
