In Grade 7, I had to give my first speech. What on Earth would I talk about for a whole three minutes? It would be an eternity. This is a serious decision for a 12-year-old. At least I thought so at the time. Therefore, I would reach into the past.

Dear Editor It is disheartening that this letter could be written about several dogs in my neighbourhood, too. One Akita is tied by an eight foot log chain to the trunk of a major conifer where it has no access to any form of shelter.

Dear Editor At the risk of appearing that we are retaliating to the "Unnecessary force mars minor hockey experience," (Regional Optimist Jan. 28) we feel we must respond.

Did I happen to mention that fishing from the dock is one thing but fishing for the big stuff means cutting loose from the wharf and heading out to open water? As obvious as it sounds, it takes a deliberate act to untie the ropes and face the waves.
