The Town of La Ronge is seeking a new councillor after Terry Hunt's resignation. Nominations close Sept. 3; a by-election will be held Oct. 8 if needed.

LA RONGE — The Town of La Ronge is officially seeking a new member of council following the resignation of Councillor Terry Hunt. 

Hunt, who served on council from December 2022 until May 2025, submitted his resignation earlier this year. 

An official call for nominations has been posted. Completed nomination packages must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Sept. 3. Candidates have until 4 p.m. on Sept. 4 to withdraw their nominations. 

If an election is required, voting will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Town Office Council Chambers, located at 1212 Hildebrand Drive. 

The Town of La Ronge has six councillors and a mayor. It is one of the fastest-growing communities in northern Saskatchewan and serves as a regional hub for health care, education and commerce.
