PRINCE ALBERT — One man has been arrested and faces charges following a shooting involving an improvised firearm in downtown Prince Albert Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Aug. 12, they were called to the 400 block of 13th Street East for a reported weapons complaint, with a suspect having fled the scene.

Officers located a 48-year-old man with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, say police, and he was transported to hospital by Parkland Ambulance with what were later determined to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly afterward, officers located a male matching the suspect description in the 100 block of 14th Street East where he was arrested without further incident, say police, and a search of the suspect resulted in officers locating and seizing multiple rounds of ammunition and an improvised firearm.

The 28-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.

Earlier in the day, another incident in which a male injured with a gunshot wound was found, had occurred.
