PRINCE ALBERT - Prince Albert Police Service welcomes working in collaboration with the new Saskatchewan Marshals Service.

The Prince Albert Police Service said in a news release they acknowledge the formal establishment of the Saskatchewan Marshals Service as an accredited policing organization in Saskatchewan and welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively during this next phase of their provincial deployment.

Over the coming month, members of the Saskatchewan Marshals Service will be working in tandem with the Prince Albert Police Service to assist with select investigations that have had a significant impact on the community.

These files require sustained attention and a consistent investigative approach, and the added capacity brought by the Marshals will allow officers to maintain focus on emergency response and high-priority calls for service.

"Our service continues to manage high operational requirements, responding to approximately 100 to 130 calls for service every 24 hours," the news release said. "This includes a wide range of criminal and public safety incidents that demand immediate attention and professional response. We are actively evaluating our current file load and operational demands to identify areas where the Marshals can provide targeted assistance that will benefit public safety outcomes in Prince Albert."

“This is a unique period in Saskatchewan’s policing landscape," said Prince Albert Police Chief Patrick Nogier. "The Saskatchewan Marshals Service brings with it an opportunity for collaboration, and we are hopeful that through this working relationship, we can ease some of the pressures facing our organization. By helping address outstanding investigations, this partnership may also allow us to enhance our emergency response capacity, ensuring we remain responsive to the needs of our community."

The Prince Albert Police Service said they remain committed to community safety and value all partnerships that "contribute to more efficient, accountable, and responsive policing."
