PRINCE ALBERT — One suspect has been charged and another is being sought by Prince Albert police after a robbery and stabbing.

On Sept. 4, at approximately 12:44 a.m., police received a report of an armed robbery of a vehicle. Police say the victim reported that she had given a ride to a female acquaintance to the area of 15th Avenue East and Muzzy Drive where an unknown male entered her vehicle, a 2018 white Ford Escape. The victim was then directed to drive to a residence in the 500 block of 22nd Street East, where she said they robbed her.

Police say the male suspect pointed what was described as a long-barrelled firearm at the victim, while the female suspect threatened her with a knife, then stole her keys and phone, stabbed her, and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

The victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 1:05 a.m., police located the stolen Ford Escape near Central Avenue and 12th Street West. Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the stolen vehicle did not comply and fled, eventually leaving the city northbound across the Diefenbaker Bridge.

A pursuit was authorized, and the Prince Albert RCMP were notified and assisted. The stolen vehicle was pursued north of the city and did not stop for police. It later returned to Prince Albert again, crossing the bridge.

Several intervention strategies were used resulting in the stolen Ford Escape being stopped at 15th Street West and 2nd Avenue West. The lone occupant of the stolen vehicle, the female suspect, was taken into custody at approximately 1:17 am without further incident. A knife was recovered from the vehicle; however, no firearm was located, say police.

This investigation remains ongoing, and police are working to identify and locate the male suspect. The 20-year-old female suspect has been charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, fail to stop for police, dangerous driving, and breach of release order.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact police at 306-953-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
