PRINCE ALBERT — Prince Albert police responded to three arson incidents Wednesday night and Thursday morning resulting in three arrests.
Prince Albert Police Service says that at approximately 9:15 p.m. on July 30, police were called to a gas station in the 200 block of 16th Street West for a report male allegedly stealing a jerry can and lighting it on fire.
Arriving officers observed a fire in the street and two employees attempting to put out the fire. Officers also observed a male matching the suspect description taunting the employees before allegedly assaulting one of them. Officers quickly intervened and attempted to arrest the male who began to flee on foot, however, he was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
As a result, the 38-year-old man has been charged with assault, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, arson and resisting arrest.
A few hours later, at around 11:45 p.m. on July 30, police observed a male lighting a residence on fire in the 1000 block of 17th Street West. Officers quickly arrested the male without further incident.
An officer then grabbed a fire extinguisher from their patrol car and put out the flames. The Prince Albert Fire Department and Parkland Ambulance also attended the scene.
The 34-year-old man has been charged with arson and failure to comply with a release order.
Then at around 10 a.m. on July 31, police were called to the area near the 200 block of 32nd Street West for a report of a male attempting to light a vehicle on fire.
Arriving officers quickly located a male matching the suspect description and he was arrested without further incident.
The 27-year-old man is facing charges relating to attempted arson, mischief and breach of probation.
