BRODERICK — Just in time for the new school year, the Village of Broderick came together with residents and local dignitaries to cut the ribbon on a community project on Labour Day.
On Sept. 1, the public was invited to a Family Fun Day at the village’s community park, where games, face painting, and even a storybook trail were available for kids. A community luncheon with hotdogs, chips and pop from Riverbend Co-op was provided to all visitors.
In addition, a dedication ceremony was held for two of Broderick’s newest arrivals in the community: a school bus shelter for local students, as well as a Little Free Library located right next to the bus stop, courtesy of Outlook Community Library.

The path to the bus stop started from the park, where a storybook trail along the way was enjoyed by local kids.
Speakers and guests at the dedication included Broderick Mayor Susan Robertson, Sun West School Division vice-chair Cathy Morrow, MLA Barret Kropf, Susan Kasper of the Outlook Community Library, RM of Rudy administrator Trent Sim, and Outlook Mayor Ryan Husband.
Heather Collier, CAO for the Village of Broderick, said that organizers were happy with the day’s events, calling it a success and a very fun day at the community park. She also thanked Riverbend Co-op for providing lunch supplies, the Town of Outlook for the Little Free Library, and everyone for the support shown in helping Broderick obtain its new school bus stop.
