Hoopla 2023: Wilkie playing for gold, 2 UCHS teams playing for provincial bronze

For a second year in a row, Wilkie girl's basketball team will be playing for provincial gold at Hoopla

WILKIE - The provincial high school basketball championship known as Hoopla included McLurg girls playing in the 2A category and Unity Composite High School boys and girl’s teams both playing in the 3A category.

From the Sask. High School Athletics website, showing Hoopla results, the Wilkie girls had a decided victory in March 24 semi-final, beating Rocanville 66-42. The girls will play for gold on March 25 facing off against Regina Laval at 3 p.m. at Carlton Comprehensive in Prince Albert. Wilkie was in the 2022 gold medal game at Hoopla as well, earning silver.

UCHS girls lost to Lanigan in their opening game 64-54 on March 24 and will now play for provincial bronze on March 25. The lady Warriors will take on St. Walburg at 1 p.m. at Sask. Polytechnic in Prince Albert.

UCHS boys could not overcome a strong Osler VCA team losing 95-65 in their semi final and will also play for provincial bronze on March 25. The Warriors will play Fort Qu’Appelle at 11 a.m. at Sask. Polytechnic in Prince Albert.
