The goal of Hoopla achieved by three teams

A return to SHSAA provincial basketball championships, known as Hoopla, for both Unity boys and girls and Wilkie girls, with all teams looking to medal again at the provincial event.

UNITY — Basketball is a long season as it starts in November and wraps up at the end of March with Sask. High School Athletics Association provincial basketball championships, Hoopla. Teams have committed to the provincial goals all season with practices, league and tournament play. The SHSAA provincial basketball event will take place in Prince Albert and will include two teams from Unity and one from McLurg in Wilkie.

Unity Composite boys’ and girls’ teams won regional championships and will compete at Hoopla March 24-25. Warrior boys hosted regionals and appreciated the fan support in their weekend wins. Warrior girls competed in Maple Creek. This is the third straight year the teams have advanced to Hoopla.

Both Unity teams medaled at provincials in 2022. Unity girls will take on Lanigan in their opening game at, while Unity boys will open up their provincial event playing Osler.

McLurg girls were also awarded regional hosting duties and also appreciated fans in the stands in their quest for a Hoopla berth, which they earned. Wilkie will take on Rocanville at their opening game of the provincial championship and are looking to meet or beat their 2022 provincial basketball results.

Macklin girls were not able to earn a provincial berth but did finish their season with a bronze medal earned at regional championships.
