50 Years Ago

The plans were finalized with Unity's Music Festival. The festival would take place March 8 and 9 with Margaret Caldwell and Robin Harrison adjudicating.

The Macklin Kinette Club received their official charter. The Kerrobert Kinettes conducted a candlelight ceremony and 24 Kinettes were presented with their certificates and pins.

Bea Fawell, Helen Burns, Adeline Boser and Agnes Boser of Unity won the Domtar Employees' Spiel held in Lloydminster.

Winner of the Marg Selinger Memorial Trophy for 1972 went to the Dorothy Whiting rink. The Whiting rink included skip Dorothy Whiting, lead Laverna Nelson, second Eve Wagner and third Shirley Leier.

20 Years Ago

Jaya Naidu and Gertrude McCallum were appointed to the Wilkie Housing Authority Board of Directors.

Over 250 people attended a supper meeting held to commemorate the opening of a new share offering for Prairie Springs Mineral Spa.

McLurg Alumni and former Wilkie residents Chris Hansen and Jud Heilman were the only two Western Canadian high school teachers/football coaches chosen to attend the American Football Coaches Association conference in San Antonio, Texas. Heilman was a 1988 McLurg grad, while Hansen was a 1979 grad.

The Seniors Lodge Project in Unity had a terrific start for it's first year. The project was met with astounding community support.
