WFD responds to grass fire already this spring

The Wilkie Fire Department responded to six calls in March, three false alarms

WILKIE - Just because snow and water are evident in our surroundings doesn’t mean grass fire risk isn’t real.

The Wilkie Fire Department, in their March report, noted they have already attended to one grass fire, along with three alarm calls, all of them being false alarms. They also responded to one vehicle fire and one kitchen fire.

Dylan Gillespie, spokesperson for WFD, says, “We have no new members to report. Practises in March consisted of traffic incident management and incident response scenario as well as incident command training.”

WFD continues to commit to ongoing practises and training so this division of protective services is ready when the alarm bell rings.
