OFSTEDAHL
December 24, 1947 – August 31, 2025

With heavy hearts, the family of Larry Maxwell Ofstedahl announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Maxwell and Lillian; his brothers, Dale and Kelly; and his sister-in-law, Donna Ofstedahl. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 55 years, Janice; sons, Michael (Bonnie) and Robby (Yasmin); granddaughter, Lindsay (Myles); and great-granddaughter, Lilly. He also leaves behind his brother, Vernon "Pog"; sisters, Shelley (Merv), Heather, and Maxine (Curtis); brother-in-law, Merv Fonger (Roberta); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on December 24, 1947, Larry was the eldest child of Maxwell and Lillian Ofstedahl. He married the love of his life, Janice (Fonger), on October 18, 1969, and together they raised two sons, eventually settling in Edmonton, Alberta in 1978.

Larry pursued various career paths throughout his life, but found his calling as a service technician with PepsiCo, where he worked faithfully for 30 years. Beyond his professional life, Larry was a gifted self-taught artist with a passion for painting, wood carving, and jewelry design. His artistic creations are cherished by many and now serve as lasting, beautiful reminders of his creativity and spirit.

A true family man, Larry had a deep love for his family and lived by an open-door policy—always ready to welcome anyone who needed a place to stay, whether for a few nights or something longer. He played a vital role in planning family reunions and was a cornerstone in keeping his extended family connected across the years and miles.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton for the compassionate and respectful care Larry received during his final days.

Larry will be remembered for his generosity, his artistry, his dedication to family, and the warmth he brought to every room. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
