Robert K. Parker

PARKER, Robert K.

Our hearts are broken to announce the sudden passing of our Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother and friend, Robert K. Parker, age 89, on July 8th at his home at Aspira Hunter Village in Saskatoon. Bob is survived by his children Randy (Ann) Parker, Dean (Patricia) Parker, Dawn Marie (Rob) Pighin and Lorraine Parker. Step-children Barb (Jamie) Dick, Jan (Gerry) Griffiths, Robert Johnston, Mike (Bonnie) Johnston, Jody Dumanski, Bev Thomas and Sandy (Brent) Litvenenko, 24 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great, Great Granddaughter, siblings Brian (Marg) Parker and Joyce Parker. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley (1984), his second wife Rita (2023), son in law Akos (1986), grandson Cameron (2017) and siblings Dorothy, Laverne, Donald and Shirley.

Bob was born on January 15, 1936 to Christian and Mary Parker in Kenora, Ontario. The family moved to Medicine Hat and it was there that he met Shirley and they married in 1954. They settled in Swift Current, purchased Frontier Realty in 1971 and enjoyed many years until Shirley's passing in 1984. Shortly after, Bob moved to Saskatoon and took the position of Zone Manager for SGIO. He met Rita at a real estate function in 1985 and they resided in Saskatoon for 9 years, working and renovating houses - they always had a project on the go. Bob was very talented in every area....there wasn't anything he couldn't fix, build or know someone who could!  In 1994, they returned to Swift Current to manage Frontier Agencies and purchased a cabin at Lac Pelletier, which they renovated to be a year round home for them. We have many happy memories of the times we spent at the cabin. After Bob sold Frontier Agencies in 1997, they spent the next several years working for Select Classic Carriers, hauling travel trailers to and from the US. They loved to drive and it gave them an opportunity to see many parts of the USA, with Simba as their navigator on the dash! In 2011, Mom wanted to move back "home" so they purchased a Condo at Rivervalley Estates in Battleford. They enjoyed many happy years there, overlooking the river valley and watching beautiful sunsets. In 2023, they chose to move back to Saskatoon to be closer to family and moved into Aspira Hunter Village where Bob resided happily until his passing.

The family is eternally grateful for the support and care Bob received at Aspira, especially after Mom's passing in 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend a little extra time with your loved ones, as life is short and you never know when it's your time. Bob's Celebration of Life will be held at his residence at Aspira, #250 Hunter Road in the Dining Room at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 18th. Arrangements are entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home with Celebrant Sue Panattoni.  Interment to follow July 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the North Battleford Municipal Cemetery.
