John Savostianik, aged 96, of North Battleford, SK, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 with his children at his side. John was born in Swaryn, Poland on January 17, 1929; shortly thereafter the family moved to Canada in 1930. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Loadman) and father of Verda, Mervin, Lana and Nancy.
Early in his career John held various jobs in BC, Manitoba, and Ontario followed by several years in the road construction industry, initially as an employee and later an owner. His final occupation was as Administrator of the RM of Tramping Lake, retiring in 1993. In his spare time, and throughout retirement, he was truly creative and found joy and satisfaction in woodworking, fishing and square-dancing. He was known for his kindness and dry sense of humour.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children Verda (Don) Wildeman, Mervin (Marie) Savostianik, Lana (Barry) Hicks, Nancy (Allan) Hoffinger; grandchildren Jeremy and Andrea (Thomas) Wildeman, Jeff McKay and Aden Savostianik, Amanda and Derek Hoffinger; great-grandchildren Tyson, Carter and Jaxon McKay, Madelyn and Jackson Thomas; and his loving sister Marjory Watts. He was predeceased by Helen, his wife of 68 years, his parents Thomas and Mary, and siblings Sybil, Susie, Albert, Sam, Annette, Mike, Jack, and Andrew. A private family service will be held at a future date.
