Cole Jones and Tyrell Wenig are helping the Carrot River Outback Thunder this season while learning the ropes of Junior B hockey. Jones, a forward, has helped in various facets of the game and has 15 points, with eight goals, in 29 games.

It was a busy week for the Nipawin Hawks as they navigated the trade deadline while balancing a trio of hockey games. The week kicked off for the Hawks with the Jan. 10 deadline, where they were busy making a pair of moves to bolster their line-up.

With many Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams busy trading to make improvements, the Melfort Mustangs remained relatively quiet.

A man that travels across Canada to curl at as many rinks as he can stopped in Tisdale for a game. Rob Swan said the game in Tisdale was either his 222nd or 223rd rink since he started three years ago.

Two current Tisdale residents and one former resident were recognized by the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame for being part of a legendary University of Saskatchewan track team.

The North East School Division is reporting that students are improving in reading, writing and arithmetic.
